New Basketball Athletes will need to attend the assessment practice on December 7, 2025 at 3pm at the Lincoln Community Center (2010 First Street, Lincoln). This is very important and will allow us needed information to place you with the appropriate team.
West Placer Athletics,
For basketball & bowling registration Please use the SONC registration website to register in Placer County for our West Placer Athletics Team. SONC registration process is for all of Northern California. You will get multiple email reminders from SONC about registration.
Both sports will have a limit on size of our team. If you want to do bowling and basketball sign up when it opens. If you wait you may be wait listed. If we have too many athletes registered on the sonc website you will get an email confirmation that you have been added to the waiting list.
Once we have confirmed current athlete applications and commitment to attending practices and competition then we will know if we have space for anyone on the wait list.
Please check your schedule and don't register if you cannot commit to practice and competition. You may be taking a spot from someone else who wants to play.
You MUST have a current application on file with SONC to sign up and participate. If they do not have an approved application you will be removed from the West Placer Roster. You can check your status by clicking status check. Please don't overwhelm their system if you know your application is current. If you are a current athlete SONC sends you a reminder when you need to renew your application. Applications are now good for one year and they will send you a renewal email every year. Please make sure to click the button on their email and renew your application. Doctor medical signatures are no longer needed. You should however update any medical conditions or medicines you take on the yearly application.
The basketball season will be from January 2025 through March 2025. The Invitational (Zebra Classic) is on a Sunday in February and attendance will be determined by each head coach for this competition.
However, the SONC Regional Competition is mandatory for all teams. The Regional date has not been set yet but will be the second or third weekend in March with the location TBD. Please check your schedules to make sure you can attend these weekends in March. Teams will be determined early December so no late entries will be accepted.
This all takes planning so please sign up when registration opens. Even if you have participated before you still need to register ever season. Basketball practices maybe played on different nights in different locations. The availability of the gyms and my head coaches are what dictates which night a team will play. The teams are formed based on the athlete's skill level so we can play competitively against other teams. I will not know what night your athlete will practice until after we have evaluated everyone and formed teams.
Bowling will be on Saturday mornings at Strikes in Rocklin. We will plan a Bowling Regional on Saturday March 7st. This date still has to be confirmed with Strikes.
We always need coaches, if you would like to volunteer to coach please let me know by email. You must fill out the volunteer application to be a coach. Go to SONC.org to start the process.
